In Wonderland: Curiouser and Curiouser, we watch a modern day Alice struggle to distinguish between reality and fantasy. Unlike Carroll’s story where the Mirror acts as a barrier between the surreal and real world, in these images we see Alice experiencing nonsense on both sides; she looks into nonsense and climbs into nonsense. In this wonderland, we watch the protagonist struggling with the same challenges Carroll’s original Alice faced, such as, the constant distortion of herself and the world around her, with characters and locations emerging and fading within an instant. The series shows Alice’s curious nature towards these events, as she stares intensely into the mirror and climbs eagerly through the frame. However, there is a dark undercurrent to this as the more Alice explores, the further Wonderland manipulates her and gradually she loses her identity. She is then left trapped within the haze of this Wonderland.
